Three easy ways to make banana "nice" cream

One of the simplest ways to make a delicious and healthy alternative to ice cream is by using bananas!

Depending on what mix-ins you use, this treat can also be vegan.

I first heard of banana "nice" cream about six years ago. One of my roommates took overripe bananas and placed them in our freezer. -- Not peeled. Not in bags. Just there.

The concept did not sound appetizing to me. Bananas are not ice cream. I love creamy, sugary, ice cream. Bananas are not a substitute.

Finally, I decided to give it a try -- and my friends, it's GOOD!

First you need to start with overripe frozen bananas -- like the bananas that have turned super brown that you're on the verge of just throwing away. Peel those bananas, and stick those babies in the freezer! (They're the sweetest, and trust me, you don't want to use green or just yellow bananas. You'll be looking for sugar asap!)

I found out that 1.5 bananas is a decent serving size (for my stomach... it may not fit your MACROS, calories, etc.)

You can simply eat frozen bananas by themselves or add some mix-ins, which are always more fun!

In this post, I'm sharing three flavors of banana nice cream I think you're going to enjoy: Cinnamon & Vanilla, Peanut Butter, Blueberry & Honey.

Cinnamon & Vanilla

Ingredients:

-overripe frozen bananas (I used 1.5 bananas)

-ground cinnamon

-pure vanilla extract

Step 1:

Mash frozen bananas (I used a spoon, but you could use any method)

Step 2:

Add a small spoonful of vanilla extract (more/less depending on your tastes)

Step 3:

Add a dash of cinnamon

Step 4:

Stir

Peanut Butter

Ingredients:

-overripe frozen bananas (I used 1.5 bananas)

-peanut butter (any kind)

Step 1:

Mash frozen bananas

Step 2:

Add a spoonful of peanut butter (I used Jif)

Step 3:

Stir

Blueberry & Honey

Ingredients:

-overripe frozen bananas (I used 1.5 bananas)

-blueberries (1/4 cup -- can be frozen)

-honey

Step 1:

Mash frozen bananas

Step 2:

Blend blueberries

Step 3:

Pour blueberries onto mashed bananas

Step 4:

Add about a tablespoon of honey (more/less depending on your tastes)

Step 5:

Stir

If you still have questions or wonder what each step looks like, watch this video:

You can eat this frozen treat right from the bowls you used to prepare them in or transfer to another dish.

If you don't feel like eating it right away, stick it back in the freezer in a container with a lid. When you decide you want to eat it, you might need to let it sit out for a little bit to thaw.

Enjoy!
